I know this blog was originally intended to be about the piggies and the bull, my delta, but in the past few months life has taken an unexpected turn.
I've always enjoyed baking. Cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, breads.... I love it all though I certainly don't do it all. Decorating cakes - and cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, etc - is something I LOVE! I never knew that I'd love it as much as I do. I've been busy in the past few months creating cakes for family and friends.
Of course, the days ( and nights) I bake and decorate are always full of kidlet antics!

Triplets Plus One Antics
People keep telling me to write things down, but I'm bad at it. I do need to write down some of the things they do, so these "events" are all in the recent past. I have pictures of A LOT of these antics only because so many people say they don't believe me until they see photographic evidence.
Diaper escapades....
For too long, Serafina was fond of removing her diaper (leaving her onesie snapped and intact). Once the triplets were separated into different cribs she learned the fine art of launch her dirty diaper into Gracie's crib who would in turn toss it to Luisito. Every now and then Serafina would opt to not toss it over the railing of her crib. She simply passed it THROUGH the bars to Gracie. Yes. THROUGH the bars. When she was being creative she would simply throw the contents of the dirty diaper at her siblings, at the windowin the room, at the walls.... Fun times.
Fina then went through an ugly phase last year where she would remove her diaper and pee and poop on her bed. More often than not she would "wash" in it. SO gross. And yes, I do have pictures of all of this.
Summer of 2009 ushered in a new phase from Fina. It seemed that she KNEW that I was pumping (for David) and couldn't get up to stop her. That summer was when we first "opened" up the living room and moved the gates. Because they could now climb up onto the treadmill, they did. Every Friday morning - for weeks - Fina and Luis sat next to each other on the edge of the treadmill and she was kind enough to stick her hand down the back of his diaper and would pull out the contents. You know.... to let me know he'd pooped. I didn't matter what time I started pumping. It was the same story, over and over and over again.
David isn't falling far behind his siblings. Just last week (last week of December) we woke up to him standing in his crib, smiling, diaperless. He'd (of course) peed and pooped in his crib, so fun times all over again!

Starting School
The third time seems to always be the charm for us.
First we went to the school district to enroll in preschool and that didn't work out for us. Then we enrolled in a co-op preschool and left at the end of our first month. MANY reasons for that. Needless to say, it didn't work out - but that's another story. This time, it seems to be a match. Third time's the charm, right?
The school has its issues. What school doesn't? It's "aged". Everything there looks well loved. One of the teachers share A LOT, and while that's nice only b/c I then see how the teachers are feeling, it'd be nice to *just* be a parent. I'm a teacher. I've BEEN on that side of the desk, so I know that there are going to be behind the scenes issues, but they really should stay there. I'll do what I can, but it's what I'd do at any school. I'll donate a bunch of my teacher supplies. It's all sitting in storage boxes collecting dust. Why not give it to a teacher who can use it? I know Ms. K will appreciate it and IF I ever go back to the classroom (and that's a VERY big IF) then I'll rebuild my stockpile of supplies. I need the realty more than I need to save it for an "if".
Triplets seem to love school. They're excited to get dressesd and out the door in the morning. They're happy to come home after school, so I know they're tired by noon (they do a half day). I've seen positive effects, and it's been just one week (they're signed up for a 4 day week). Luisito's vocabulary has grown a ton in just this week. Gracie is using more of her words - instead of just pointing and mumbling. Serafina.... well.... Serafina is who she is. :D I LOVE that little girl! She's building her vocabulary as well and is recogninzing differences in situations and events. She's using her reasoning skills in ways she hasn't before (it's been emerging for a while now). In 6 months time I'll take her back to the school district and tell them to shove their evaluation and "findings" up their own behinds. Even David seems to be enjoying his "mommy and me" time - there may even be a few changes in his schedule, but I still have to mull over the possibilities.
