The third time seems to always be the charm for us.
First we went to the school district to enroll in preschool and that didn't work out for us. Then we enrolled in a co-op preschool and left at the end of our first month. MANY reasons for that. Needless to say, it didn't work out - but that's another story. This time, it seems to be a match. Third time's the charm, right?
The school has its issues. What school doesn't? It's "aged". Everything there looks well loved. One of the teachers share A LOT, and while that's nice only b/c I then see how the teachers are feeling, it'd be nice to *just* be a parent. I'm a teacher. I've BEEN on that side of the desk, so I know that there are going to be behind the scenes issues, but they really should stay there. I'll do what I can, but it's what I'd do at any school. I'll donate a bunch of my teacher supplies. It's all sitting in storage boxes collecting dust. Why not give it to a teacher who can use it? I know Ms. K will appreciate it and IF I ever go back to the classroom (and that's a VERY big IF) then I'll rebuild my stockpile of supplies. I need the realty more than I need to save it for an "if".
Triplets seem to love school. They're excited to get dressesd and out the door in the morning. They're happy to come home after school, so I know they're tired by noon (they do a half day). I've seen positive effects, and it's been just one week (they're signed up for a 4 day week). Luisito's vocabulary has grown a ton in just this week. Gracie is using more of her words - instead of just pointing and mumbling. Serafina.... well.... Serafina is who she is. :D I LOVE that little girl! She's building her vocabulary as well and is recogninzing differences in situations and events. She's using her reasoning skills in ways she hasn't before (it's been emerging for a while now). In 6 months time I'll take her back to the school district and tell them to shove their evaluation and "findings" up their own behinds. Even David seems to be enjoying his "mommy and me" time - there may even be a few changes in his schedule, but I still have to mull over the possibilities.
